Illustrations done for a short children's fable.  Nell longs to be a mermaid, wishing to venture into the deep sea world to which she feels she belongs. However, when the king of the gulls grants her wish, she finds that mermaids aren't all that they seem to be. Mermaids have no hearts and no souls. Very soon she begins to regret her decision...
